Where Money Meets Mission: Creating a Unified Investment Portfolio

This paper offers an introduction to the concept of investing financial assets using strategies that pursue not only economic performance, but social and environmental returns as well. It explores the current state of these evolving approaches, as well as analyzes how these trends might play out for different types of investors. Included is a discussion of the rationale behind (and fundamentals of) investing for multiple returns. This concept is called a “Unified Investment Strategy,” an approach to financial asset management that may be used by investors seeking to balance market-rate investments with below-market-rate and/or philanthropic investments.
